Anthedon (mythology)

In Greek mythology, there were several people named Anthedon.

Anthedon is possibly the father of Glaucus, a sea god – whose mother might have been Alcyone.[1] According to Greek traveler Pausanias, Anthedon may have been the naiad nymph of the town of Anthedon in Boeotia.[2]

The USS Anthedon, a submarine tender ship of the United States Navy, was named after this mythological figure with seagoing associations.[3][4]
